The Hinsdale-Oak Brook Sunrise Rotary Bell Ringers will be out again this weekend, Saturday, Dec. 14, at Midwest and 22nd Street in Oak Brook.

Bell Ringers Again! Ring, ring, ring, ring.

The traditional Salvation Army bell ringers are an indelible part of the holiday season. The Hinsdale Oak Brook Sunrise Rotary club is a part of this philanthropic movement every year, taking a turn at collecting for those less fortunate. Its an interesting experience in human interaction.

Yes, its cold. Yes, its boring at times. Dancing helps. Singing helps. Making up your holiday shopping list in your head helps. Yes, you can tell who is going to donate. Making eye contact is a major clue. Some bell ringers start ringing the moment the car door opens to alert the shopper to their presence. Some donors have coins in their hand by the time they get to the door.

Others hold out some change as they complete their purchases. The Hinsdale Oak Brook Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Tuesday morning at 7:00 am in the Fireside room of the Hyatt Lodge on the McDonald's campus in Oak Brook. Visitors are always welcome.
