DJ Deolitsis runs for 3 more TDs as Hinsdale South blasts Addison Trail

ADDISON — It’s been seven seasons since Hinsdale South has played in the postseason and nobody with the program can recall the last time the Hornets bolted out to a 4-0 start.
Hinsdale South has already created a lot of good memories this season and added another Friday night in Addison, where they took apart defending West Suburban Gold champ Addison Trail 42-14.
Hornets quarterback DJ Deolitsis ran for three touchdowns — on carries of 15, 44 and 10 yards — and located Justin Ward for a 29-yard touchdown pass just before the end of the first half as the visitors built a 28-7 cushion.
Deolitsis, who has nine TD carries on the season, ran for 75 yards on 12 rushes and threw for 112 yards while completing 5-of-7 passes.
“He’s thrown for over 100 yards a game, on average. He makes up for about 200 yards of offense per game for us, if not more,” said Hornets coach Mike Berry. “For us, whether we run it in or we throw it in, it doesn’t matter to me. Just as long as we get it in.”
Hinsdale South (4-0, 2-0) took advantage of Addison Trail sophomore quarterback Matt Gontarek sitting on the bench with an ankle injury. Backup quarterback John Taylor engineered a 49-yard touchdown drive on the opening possession. Alex Glowacki broke loose for a 41-yard TD dash in the closing minute. But for the game, the Hornets held the Blazers (1-3, 0-2) to 10 first downs and 171 yards of total offense.
