Payton Ward Takes Down Wilcat Behind Line of Scrimmage

83-POUND SILVER
Hinsdale Falcons 83-pound Silver defeated Wheaton Rams 83lb Silver 26-6 in the season opener at Graf Park in Wheaton.
On defense, David Bynan led the team with seven tackles and forced a fumble which he recovered. Owen Bemiss had six tackles, JP Sporleder and Teddy Andrews each had four and Andrews also forced a fumble
George Boddicker, Connor Devine (fumble recovery) and Tommy Skokna each had three tackles. Jake Merlo, Darren Bemiss and Robbie Long each had two tackles. Merlo forced a fumble, recovered by Parker Hunt.
James Barrett, Ronan Moriarty and Nicholas Grundberg also had tackles. Defensive tackle Dale Reeves and safety Will McCarter also contributed to the defensive effort.
On offense, Owen Bemiss completed 4-of-9 pass attempts. Connor Devine had three receptions, including a 65-yard touchdown and a two-point conversion. Nicholas Grundberg caught a 10-yard pass for a first down
Robbie Long rushed three times and scored two touchdowns. Tommy Skokna ran two times and scored a TD.
Will McCarter, George Boddicker, David Bynan and Connor Devine also carried the ball.
The offense line, including Grundberg, Barrett, Hunt, Darren Bemiss, Merlo, Sporleder and Bynan, controlled the line of scrimmage.
The 83 Silver squad takes on the Carol Stream Panthers Saturday at Brook Park.
103-POUND AFC GOLD
WEST CHICAGO — Hinsdale Falcons 103 AFC Gold on Sunday defeated the Wildcats 23-0 in West Chicago.
Impressive tackles by Trenton Riggins-Walker, Connor Chisnell, Nick Beaulieu and Ethan Lin helped produce a scoreless first half.
The offense came alive in the second half, with Ryan Hood and quarterback JJ Dutton carrying the ball to set up John Sprengel for touchdown. Payton Ward made the catch for two extra points. The offensive line, led by the efforts of Jack Grey, Gray Charlier, Misha Rhodes and Luke Dolan produced two more Falcons scores, including another by Sprengel. Dutton also found the end zone, with point-afters supplied by Hood and Beaulieu.
The defense delivered, with Conor Coyne grabbing an interception and solid tackles by Scott Bitautas and Luke Allison securing the shutout.
118-POUND SILVER
HINSDALE — The Hinsdale Falcons 118-pound Silver shut out the Wheaton Rams 7-0 in their season home opener Saturday at Brook Park.
The defense was led by Nicholas Biancalana, Adam Cerny, Sam Schiavetti, Caleb Lagestee, Robert Sierra, Aaron Fuller, Carmelo Lazzara, Nicholas Tienken, Jad Alamuddin, Brendan Cain, Charlie Burr, Alex Treankler, Alek Bogdonoff, Keithan Walker, William Sessa, Filip Niewinski, Connor Parrillo, Malachi Grimm, Quin Kanagy, Ali Baghdadi, Kosta Kelikian and Richard Synder.
On the opening kickoff of the second half, Sessa ran the ball 80 yards to score the only touchdown of the rain-soaked game.
With under two minutes remaining, Tienken, Sierra and Schiavetti combined to sack the quarterback on fourth down to secure the win.
133-POUND SILVER RED
Under sloppy conditions on Saturday, the Hinsdale Falcons 133 Silver Red prevailed over the Downers Grove Panthers 12-6.
Hinsdale struck first after beginning a drive near midfield. Behind solid O-line blocking from Primo Arquilla, Liam Drury and Rory Davis, quarterback John Harzich connected on a 30-yard pass to Michael Loughlin. Two plays later, behind key blocks from Brian Harris, Jimmy Gordon and Ben Van Vuren, Josh Bean scampered 13 yards for a touchdown.
With the game tied at 6 at the half, the contest turned into a defensive battle. Loughlin had a sack and Arquilla and Van Vuren had tackles for losses. Van Vuren led the team in tackles, followed by Bean, Matthew Bruni, Andrew Griffith, Davis and Loughlin.
After a Falcons turnover, they got the ball right back when Lucas Booras grabbed an interception.
The Falcons stepped it up in crunch time. Harzich deflected a Panther pass and teammate Anthony Carta was well-positioned for the interception. Taking possession with under two minutes left, Harzich connected downfield with Bean, who completed the 35-yard scoring play.
133-POUND SILVER WHITE
ELMHURST — Hinsdale Falcons 133 Silver White kicked off its season Sunday by defeating the Elmhurst Eagles 7-6 at Berens Park in Elmhurst.
After a scoreless first quarter, quarterback Max Mittlestadt threw a pin-point touchdown pass to Michael Paunove in the second quarter. James Dellaportes ran for the extra point to put the Falcons up 7-0 at the half.
Davis Palo led the Falcons defense, sacking the Elmhurst quarterback to prevent the Eagles from converting the extra point after a third-quarter touchdown. Tramel Braham recorded key tackles for loss of yards. Brian McCarty, Kyle Casper and Shayan Hussain also collected tackles.
Michael Paunove, McCarty and Colin Fuller led the team in rushing, with Dellaportes and Palo finishing as the top receivers. Helping anchor the offensive line were Nate McGowan, Hussain, JP Athens, Casper, Braham, Jake Pena, Cameron Senica and David Brown.
Defensive linemen Braham, Athens, McGowan, Senica, Brown and Hussain were steady. Other key contributors were Andrew Kladis, Sam Fathizadeh, Ray Shyrock, Chris Hernandez and Brandon Heimsoth.
The Falcons are coached by Mike Halligan, Paul Athens and Mike Mittlestadt.
