HINSDALE — B.J. Ryan, a freshman at Hinsdale Central High School, finished fourth in the U.S. Geography Olympiad held in Arlington, Va. More than 150 students nationwide qualified to compete in the national event April 26. The competition included two written tests and then three rounds of bowl-style questions, where the one first one to answer correctly won the point. And their parents were asked to recite poems to them. “It shows kids you can enjoy poetry at any age,” teacher Heather Giese said. The children’s poems were about dolphins, Ninjas, sneakers and snakes.
