Dillard becomes victim of crime he sought to prevent

HINSDALE — Sen. Kirk Dillard has suffered firsthand the loss he was trying to prevent with legislation he sponsored last year for the sale of stolen gold and silver. On a Saturday night in March, Kirk’s Hinsdale home was burglarized when he and his wife went out for a short time. The burglar took gold and silver jewelry, plus a silver tray that used to belong to Dillard’s wife’s great-great-grandmother, and a sterling silver mirror. “The pattern is very clear,” said Dillard, a Hinsdale Republican and potential gubernatorial candidate. BURGLARY A resident of the 1400 block of Burr Oak Road in the Graue Mill subdivision reported someone stole a portable workbench, chainsaw, jack and stepstool from his storage locker in the parking garage. The lock that had secured the locker was missing.
