More than 600 people took advantage of beautiful weather Friday to take part in the Hinsdale Cooks! Kitchen Walk. The event offered a tour of five of Hinsdale’s greatest kitchens while raising money for the Hinsdale Historical Society through ticket sales. Suit: Let disabled athletes go to IHSA state meet

The Illinois High School Association girls state track and field meet will be held this weekend — and Fenwick’s Mary Kate Callahan won’t be taking part. But a lawsuit to be filed Wednesday by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan in federal court aims to make it possible for student-athletes with disabilities, like Callahan who is paralyzed from the waist down, to compete in future IHSA state meets.

The weather forecast may have been dreary and wet Saturday, but a sea of pink and the overwhelming feeling of optimism and hope that was brought by 433 runners and walkers and hundreds of spectators brightened the mood in Central Park during the Oak Brook Park District’s second annual Pink 5k. The Park District presented a check for $6,000 from the proceeds of the race to the Adventist Hinsdale Hospital Foundation Open Arms Breast Cancer Fund for its 40 Free Mammograms for 40 Women program in October. District 86 Board member keeps up court fight

A DuPage County judge will allow Hinsdale Township School District 86 Board member Dianne Barrett to file a third amended complaint in her lawsuit against the School Board while district attorneys will seek a sanction to recoup legal costs. District 86 attorney James Petrungaro said the board will seek sanctions from Barrett and her attorneys for the defense of what he called “a meritless motion.” District 86 board members had previously discussed the possibility of being reimbursed by Barrett for legal costs incurred. Four young artists were introduced Saturday at a preview party for the June 9-10 Hinsdale Fine Arts Fest in Burlington Park, 30 E. Chicago Ave. The Doings is a sponsor of the Hinsdale Fine Arts Fest. Anthony Cox, conceptual artist; Katya Hervatin, painter; Dan Jarvis, photographer; and Ryan Kiefer, graphic designer, are the artists from Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills.
