The Doings Hinsdale

Letter: Effective journalism?

Effective journalism?

The article with pictures, “Activists feel called to protest at Hinsdale Clinic,” in the July 12 issue of The Doings gave an alarmingly biased view of an issue relevant to all women and families. It might have quoted directly from the religious tracts that guide the self-righteous protestors. This politicized and one-sided article made no effort to speak to, or on behalf of, those women who, when seeking legitimate health services, are harassed and condemned by those whose life choices differ from their own.

The harassers are often those who also condemn provision of accurate sex education for youth, and use of safe and available pregnancy prevention methods.

But, my outrage is primarily aimed at Pioneer Press for permitting such biased reporting. I ask Pioneer to please review the ethical codes for effective journalism in accepting future “news” stories.
