Letter: Girl Scouts support food pantry

Girl Scouts
support food pantry

Girl Scout troop No. 51159 is currently working on beginning to achieve its Gold Award. To do that, they must complete a “journey” first, a take-action project to benefit the community. What they hope to accomplish is to give fresh, healthy produce to those who rely on the Hinsdale Food Pantry for support.

The troop knows that fruits and vegetables are uncommon donations to the pantry due to their perishability, but the troop also understands the necessity of having wholesome foods in order to stay fit and happy. The hope is to encourage people with home gardens, who find themselves producing more than they can consume, to donate it to the troop.

If willing, they would be able to contact Julie Suarez and Deb Carmazzi at (630) 323-2500; cell (630) 460-6400; (708) 309-3816; or e-mail dcarmazzi@comcast.net or jsuarez@hcsfamilyservices.org.
