Doings seeks adult and student columnists

The Doings is looking for adult and student writers to contribute a column for its opinion pages on a rotating basis between September 2012 and summer 2013. Interested writers should submit a 530-word sample column by Friday, Aug. 17. Columns may be e-mailed to doingsnews@pioneerlocal.com, faxed to (630) 320-5460 or mailed to The Doings, 920 N. York Road, Hinsdale IL 60521. Adult submissions should be marked “Attention: Contributing Columnist.” Student submissions should be marked “Attention: Student Columnist.”

Adult candidates must be at least 17 and cannot be elected officials or employees of public taxing bodies. Columns should not be used to promote a business, organization or political agenda. Student candidates must be at least 14, live in a Doings town and attend either high school or college. Selected columnists will write five or six columns over the course of the year.

Selected columnists will be notified in late August.
