Benet names this 2012 AP scholars

Each autumn the College Board Advanced Placement Program recognizes students who have achieved outstanding scores on multiple AP exams.
This year, 117 members of Benet Classes of 2012 and 2013 were honored as AP Scholars.
AP Scholar Awards, granted to students who received grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams, were given to:
Clarendon Hills: Emily Callahan, senior
Oak Brook: John Pircon, senior
AP Scholar with Honors recognitions were granted to students who received an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. The following Benet alumni and students were recipients of this honor:
Clarendon Hills: Patricia Walchessen, senior
Hinsdale: Gabriela Lastres, senior
Oak Brook: Shelby Clingen, senior
Those students who received an average grade of at least 3.50 on all AP exams taken and grades of 3 or higher on 5 or more of these exams were named AP Scholars with Distinction. Benet honorees in this category include the following from the Class of 2012:
Burr Ridge: Thomas Cziperle, Mary Elizabeth Wagner Darien Corey Arango
Hinsdale: Michael Genovese
Melissa Krumdick and Emily Viehl were granted the additional recognition of being named National AP Scholars, a designation that is granted to students in the United States who received an average of at least a 4.00 on all AP exams taken and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.
Only about 20 percent of the more than 2.1 million high school students worldwide who took A.P. exams through May 2012 performed at a sufficiently high level to merit these recognitions.
2013 AP scholars
The following area students from Benet Academy Class of 2013 were named Illinois State Scholars. Approximately 45 percent of the class were recognized. Only 10 percent of high school seniors statewide are named Illinois State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.
