Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Elementary District 181 will conduct several preschool screenings during the 2012-2013 school year. A screening is designed to identify any students who may need further evaluation and may be eligible for Early Childhood Education and/or for speech and language services.

The purpose of the screening is related to Special Education and is for children who are 3, 4 or 5 years old and are experiencing difficulty in the following areas:

• Cognitive Development

• Speech and Language Skills

• Gross and Fine Motor Skills

• Vision and Hearing

The preschool screening is not intended as a screening for kindergarten admission. It is important to note that only District 181 residents are eligible to receive this preschool screening.

The fall preschool screenings will be held Sept. 7, Sept. 21, and Oct. 5 at Oak School, located at 950 S. Oak St., Hinsdale and take about 30 minutes. Parents with concerns about their children’s development who wish to schedule an appointment should call Sharon Arvis, special education administrative assistant, at (630) 887-1330, Ext. 225.

Additional screening opportunities will be provided during the winter and spring. ~.
