Recognition awards

Thirteen students from Gurrie Middle School were honored May 2 by the West Suburban Consortium for Academic Excellence.

The West Suburban Consortium for Academic Excellence is a group of high-performing school districts. Each year, qualifying students can participate in the program that offers above-grade-level testing for academically talented students. All of the students listed earned a score of 500 or higher on one or more of the sections of the SAT (reading, math and writing).

Eighth grade: Colin Bailey, Mia Cabela, Elizabeth De Sae Silva, Anisa Godinez, Brandon Herman, Nicholas Rohan, Anna Schiferl, Abigail Yates and Jonathan Yeager

Seventh grade: Marina Auwerda, Iris Leahy, Leonard Prystalski and Kathleen Westrick.
