A man accused of stealing nearly $300,000 from the Oak Brook bank where he worked has been ordered held on $250,000 bail.
Shaun Horan, 31, of Aurora, was charged with stealing more than $285,000 from Resource One in Oak Brook, where he worked as an accountant between 2007 and 2011, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s office.
During that time, he wrote himself unauthorized checks totaling $286,237.23 from a company account, then either deleted or changed entries in the books to cover the thefts, prosecutors allege. The scheme came to light because of the diligence of a co-worker and a follow-up internal audit by Resource One, a release from the state’s attorney’s office said.
Horan is charged with one count of theft over $100,000 and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. His next court hearing is June 25 in front of Judge Robert Kleeman.
