Assistance League receives Bergio donation

The plight of less fortunate families in Chicago’s western suburbs and a local organization’s philanthropic response reached as far as Moscow and the international headquarters of Bergio, a European-inspired fine jewelry company with a growing presence in the United States.

Chief executive officer and head designer Berge Abajian, in Oak Brook recently for a two-day trunk show at Nieman Marcus, was the featured guest at a private reception in the Precious Jewels Salon for Assistance League of Chicagoland West, an all-volunteer organization based in Hinsdale.

Abajian told members he likes helping in the community and announced that he is donating a pendant necklace from his collection for a special jewelry raffle at the group’s annual Books & Brunch fundraiser on Nov. 13. Abajian became familiar with ALCW through the efforts of Sheila Nicosia, manager of the Precious Jewels Salon and a longtime supporter.

ALCW outfits children in need with coats, hats and gloves; strengthens literary readiness for young children through book distribution and reading programs and delivers kitchen essentials for those moving from transitional housing to independent living.
