Mercy Home celebrates anniversary with festival

Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, celebrating its 125th anniversary of providing full-time care, education and opportunity to generations of disadvantaged, abused and neglected children, invites the public to join celebration at the inaugural MercyFest July 20 on Mercy Home’s West Loop Campus, Adams Street and Racine Avenue, Chicago.

A family-friendly portion of the event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring games, prizes and pony rides. The evening portion of the event will cater to the adult after-work audience from 3 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., offering food, beer, wine, and live entertainment from the Dirty Rooks (at 5 p.m.) and Wedding Banned (at 7:30 p.m.).

Admission is $10; free for children under 12. The first of several drawings in Mercy Home’s 125th Anniversary Raffle will also be held at Mercy Fest, with a prize of $1,000. Chances can be purchased at the event or online at www.mercyhome.org.

Mercy Home will continue to celebrate its anniversary year with a number of events, including a special 125th anniversary Mass and reception on Sept. 30 and the annual Ringside for Mercy’s Sake on Oct. 20.
