Butler Elementary School student Carolyn Chun was an honorable mention winner in the Lions Club International Peace Poster Contest.
This year’s theme for the annual poster contest was “Children Know Peace.”
Chun won the Lions Club of Burr Ridge-Hinsdale-Oak Brook contest and advanced to the district level, which consists of more than 40 clubs, where she was named an honorable mention winner.
Each year, Lions clubs around the world sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups. The art contest for kids encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. During the last 20 years, more than 4 million children from nearly 100 countries have participated in the contest.
The Lions Club, with its international headquarters in Oak Brook, consists of 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members. The club focuses on education issues, helping the homeless and feeding the needy.
