Metra trains delayed due to signal issue

A downtown signal problem has halted a Metra train that is preventing all other BNSF trains from getting through during the Tuesday evening rush.
BNSF train No. 1255 was stopped outside Union Station because of signal issues, Metra said. The train was scheduled to arrive at Fairview Avenue station in Downers Grove at 5:34 p.m.
Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said the train is blocking all other inbound and outbound BNSF trains from getting past. However, other lines are not effected.
Metra could not immediately provide a time frame for the delay, but Reile said passengers should expect at least residual delays through the evening rush.
