HINSDALE — The April 9 election for Hinsdale Village Board will be uncontested.

Village President Thomas Cauley, Jr. is breaking with tradition and seeking a second four-year term. He is unopposed.

The Hinsdale Village Caucus’ bylaws set a one-term limit for the village president and prohibit the caucus from slating a sitting village president for a second term. Therefore, the caucus did not endorse Cauley, although the caucus nominating committee in November recommended him as the best candidate for the job and the full caucus did not endorse a replacement.

Caucus members plan to evaluate whether the one-term limit for president should be changed.

The caucus sets a two-term limit for village trustees and two village trustees are asking for a second four-year term: Laura LaPlaca and Robert Saigh.

Gerald Hughes filed to run, too. Hughes would replace Trustee Doug Geoga who is not seeking re-election. Geoga anticipates moving to Chicago in the future.
