HINSDALE — The Hinsdale Police Department participated in an enforcement initiative to crackdown on drunk and unbelted drivers over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Only two drivers were charged with driving under the influence in the aggressive enforcement period from Nov. 12 to 25.

But 26 motorists were cited for failing to wear safety belts, 35 were given speeding tickets andd 66 other citations were issued for other Illinois Vehicle Code violations.

The Hinsdale Police Department received a state grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation to participate in this effort. Grant funding allows the Police Department to assign additional officers for dedicated enforcement of the seat belt and speed laws.
