HINSDALE — The Hinsdale Village Board changed the parking restrictions on 57th Street between South Grant and Madison streets. All but one resident of that section, plus residents on Foxdale Lane, signed a petition asking the village to switch where drivers are allowed to park from the south side to the north side of the street.

The street borders Hinsdale Central High School to the south.

Residents of the south side of 57th reported it was difficult to safely back out of their driveways between parked cars. There are 17 residential driveways on the south side of 57th between Grant and Madison, compared with three driveways on the north side.

The Village Board at its Sept. 4 meeting, approved the change to prohibit parking on the south side and limit parking on the north side to only two consecutive hours between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
