CLARENDON HILLS — The new principal at Walker School is coming with six years of working experience in education, including two as an assistant principal. Christine Cagney was approved as the new Walker principal in a unanimous vote of the Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Elementary District 181 Board July 17.

Cagney officially begins work July 23. She replaces Kevin Russell, who was named the director of curriculum, assessment and instruction.

Cagney served four years as a special education teacher in Woodridge Elementary District 68 and two years as assistant principal at Hunting Ridge Elementary School in Palatine.

“My number on priority now is getting to know the community of Walker School: the parents, the staff and the students when they come back,” she said.

Cagney has a master of arts degree in teaching in special education and a master of education in administration and supervision, both from National Louis University.

“I have family friends who live in Hinsdale, and they sought it out because of the schools. I didn’t know a lot about the district, but I trust their judgment,” Cagney said.
