Storm knocks out power in Hinsdale

HINSDALE — A summer storm early this afternoon knocked out power in southeast and southwest sections of Hinsdale, forcing the Oak Street Bridge to close.

Village Manager Dave Cook said the two areas of town were without power beginning about 1:30 p.m. Service was restored to most of the areas by 4 p.m., Cook said. A few scattered outages remained on Sixth Street, he said.

The larger section without electricity was between Garfield Road and County Line Road from the Burlington tracks south to 55th Street, where several wires were down. The other area without service was to the southwest, which also affected residents in Willowbrook and Clarendon Hills, Cook said.

Adventist Hinsdale Hospital wasn’t affected by the outage, but the traffic signal controlling the one-lane bridge was out, necessitating the closing, Cook said.
