The Lane School surprises departing principal

Students, staff and parents from The Lane School surprised departing principal Doug Eccarius May 30 with a surprise celebration of his tenure at the Hinsdale elementary school.
Eccarius was recognized for his seven years at The Lane as he was presented with gifts, had a story read that was written about him, and listened and watched as students sang a song for him. Many students and staff members wore ties, as Eccarius is known around the school for his ties.
The popular principal is leaving his position at The Lane to become executive director of human resources for Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Elementary District 181, effective July 1.
Casey James Godfrey, a principal from St. Charles, Mo., with whom District 181 Superintendent Renee Schuster previously worked, was hired to replace Eccarius as principal at The Lane.
