Pedestrian struck by Metra train near Lombard

A number of trains on Metra’s Union Pacific/West Line were being delayed by as much as two and a-half hours Sunday morning after a pedestrian was struck by a train in the west suburbs.

Metra UP/West Line Train No. 504, scheduled to arrive Chicago at 9:50 a.m., was operating 150 minutes behind schedule as of 11:28 a.m., after the pedestrian incident near Lombard, according to a Metra service advisory.

Train No. 501, scheduled to arrive Elburn at 10:06 a.m., was operating 95 to 100 minutes behind schedule, the advisory said.

As of about 10:40 a.m. Train No. 503, scheduled to depart Chicago at 10:40 a.m. and arrive in Elburn at 12:06 p.m., had not departed because of the incident. The duration of this delay in departure was expected to be extensive, according to Metra.

Train No. 506, scheduled to depart Elburn at 10:25 a.m. and arrive in Chicago at 11:50 a.m., had not departed as of about 10:36 a.m., according to the service advisory. The duration of this delay was expected to be extensive.
