The Theatre of Western Springs will present the sixth annual Taste of the Arts 6:30-11 p.m. July 21 at 4348 Hampton. Xtreme run

Waterfall Glen Xtreme 10 Mile, a 10-mile run, will be July 21 at Waterfall Glen in Darien. The race benefits Community Nurse Health Association which provides health and dental care to low-income residents in the western suburbs. To register, visit www.xtreme10race.com. The Runner’s Soul will host Ultramarathon Man Dean Karnazes at 6 p.m. July 25 at 5 S. La Grange Road, La Grange. A short, easy run will be followed by a question-and-answer session and book signing. Shedd Gala

The Shedd Aquarium will hold its annual summer soirée, BLU, 7 p.m.-midnight July 28 at the Shedd Aquarium, 1200 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago. The evening will include samplings from Chicago’s finest restaurants, aquatic explorations in the galleries, fireworks over the lakeshore and dancing. Tickets begin at $150. Goombay Bash
