Garden Walk
LaGrange Highlands Woman’s Club will feature five gardens in its first Garden Walk 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 30. Net proceeds will benefit the club’s 2012/13 charity of the year, Team O’Connell, a 501(c)3 organization founded by the parents of Brady O’Connell, a local boy with cystic fibrosis, and dedicated to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis. Soaring Eagle Open House
Soaring Eagle Academy, a therapeutic day school for autism spectrum disorders, will host its second annual Open House 10 a.m.-noon June 30, at 8320 S. Madison St., Burr Ridge. Activities include a raffle drawing for a 2012 Ford Focus (or $15,000 in cash), guided tours by the founders and staff, school- and student-created video viewings, light beverages and desserts, as well as an old-fashioned popcorn and cotton candy machine, a bounce house and art/craft projects in the art room. Car wash
Friends of Kelli Joy O’Laughlin are holding a car wash to support the Kelli Joy O’Laughlin Memorial Fund 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 30 at the Pleasantview Fire Department, 1970 Plainfield Road, LaGrange Highlands. This fund is used for educational scholarships at Lyons Township High School.
Make Me a Model
Mario Tricoci Hair Salon and Day Spa will hold the fifth annual “Mario, Make Me a Model” campaign with open model calls at 10 a.m. July 10 at 900 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago; 5 p.m. July 10 at 675 Mall Drive, Schaumburg; 10 a.m. July 11 284 Oakbrook Center, Oak Brook and 5 p.m. July 11 at 15451 S. 94th Ave., Orland Park. People 16 and older may attend. Prior modeling experience is not required. Individuals with current representation are ineligible. Finalists will receive a makeover, runway instruction and personal training. They will appear in a 15-second commercial, take part in a photo shoot and walk in a major runway show. In addition, the winner of the event will receive consideration for a contract with Factor Women.

People’s Resource Center Clothing Closet will hold a back-to-school gym shoe and backpack drive 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Thursdays and 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays, July 15-31.
