The DuPage Senior Citizens Council welcomed nearly 200 guests at the first Thursday Lunch for Seniors event at Shari Nihari restaurant in Lombard on May 24. Guests were offered a variety of Pakistani and Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian hot-and-spicy meals while being serenaded by singer Shehzae Ahmad.
DSCC developed this program with support from the American Association of Retired Asians as a unique opportunity for elderly residents to enjoy authentic Pakistani-Indian cuisine and socialize in a stylish environment. The luncheon will run each Thursday from noon to 3 p.m. at Shari Nihari.
A donation of $3 or more is required for persons age 60 and older, while seniors under 60 will pay $7 per meal. Reservations must be made in advance by contacting Moneek Khan at (630) 776-7456 or moneek.khan@dupageseniorcouncil.org.
