Kids old enough to crawl through kindergartners will do yoga with their parents at Busy Star Baby & Me Yoga, 3:45-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24 at LaGrange Public Library, 10 W. Cossitt Ave.
“The children become free weights,” joked Kristine Scott Schultz, director of Stardust Yoga Studio in LaGrange, who teaches the class. “It’s a great way to exercise your body but also have loads of fun with the kids. We do a lot of big movement with them. We work on fine and large motor skills.”
Parents move their baby’s body for yoga poses. “If they are crawling, we get them on their hands and knees and pull them back and forth,” Schultz said. “With the walkers, we do a lot of movement.”
Moms and dads reap benefits, too.”It’s a great way for parents to stretch their bodies because they’re spending so much time hovering over their baby,” Schultz said.
