A full schedule of family fun is planned for Hinsdale’s Independence Day celebration Wednesday, July 4, beginning with a parade of community groups, families and businesses stepping off at Sixth Street and Garfield at 10 a.m. and ending at Sixth and Grant streets.

The action continues at 11 a.m. at Burlington Park, 30 E. Chicago Ave., with a craft fair and family entertainment. Director of Parks and Recreation Gina Hassett reported that activities for children will include kids’ tabletop carnival games, spinning strawberry cups and a giant slide. There also will be inflatables and face painting.

A crowd always gathers to watch the Rotary Club’s annual turtle races, with the little green competitors taking off at 11:30 a.m. this year. Another highlight will be a performance by the West Suburban Concert Band at 1 p.m. The inflatables close at 3 p.m. and the event ends at 4 p.m.

Admission is free. Refreshments will be sold.

Park Ave. They can personalize their instrument with bells and artwork. Cost is $2 for nonmembers, $1 for members.

The outdoor roving theater performance for families is presented by Citadel Theatre Company. Tickets are $10.

Tiles are $20 with money going toward the preschool program.
