Helping Hand
Center announces new CFO
Helping Hand Center recently announced Dawn Winters as their new chief financial officer. Winters was scheduled to start on May 21 and go through a transitional process with her predecessor, Michael Cusick, who will be taking on a new role within the organization as an executive consultant.
Winters brings over 10 years of accounting and nonprofit experience to the position. In her role as chief financial officer, she is primarily responsible for the financial and accounting functions of Helping Hand Center, a nonprofit in Countryside who serves children and adults with developmental disabilities in suburban Cook County and greater Chicago area communities since 1955.
Winters most recently came to Helping Hand Center from a nonprofit behavioral health care provider. As the vice president of finance and IT, Winters directed financial management functions, including development of monthly and quarterly financial statements, financial forecasts and budgets. She oversaw general accounting functions and administered all financial management systems.
Winters received her bachelor of science degree in accounting and her masters of business administration from Purdue University, Hammond, Ind. She is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and a volunteer and the treasurer for Camp Quality Ill., a nonprofit dedicated to serving children with cancer.
Helping Hand Center offers a range of programs and services, including outpatient therapies, early intervention, a school for children with autism, high school transition, residential homes, employment services, adult developmental training and special recreation programs. Foundation’s
Benefit Dinner
The DuPage Community Foundation is pleased to announce that J.P. Morgan has committed to be the event sponsor for the Foundation’s 20th Annual Benefit Dinner to be held the evening of Nov. 18, at Butterfield Country Club in Oak Brook. By doing so, J.P. Morgan has made the largest sponsorship commitment for the Foundation’s Annual Benefit Dinner since it was established in 1993.

honored for
volunteer work
Joey Harman, a licensed clinical professional counselor in La Grange, was among those honored at a recognition dinner on April 24 for her 10 years of volunteer service with the American Red Cross, Disaster Mental Health Services.
