HINSDALE — Vandals damaged about $800 worth of property outside four Hinsdale homes last week. A resident of the 300 block of Princeton Road heard a noise at 2 a.m. Nov. 21 and discovered someone had knocked the top off a decorative lamppost on his property and broken its glass panels.

The same night, on the 300 block of Hillcrest Avenue, vandals pushed a decorative light pole over, breaking it off at the base; and pushed over a planter, a wrought iron bench and a 30-inch high concrete animal statue, causing it to break. On the 100 block of Hillcrest, someone broke three glass panes on a gaslight-style light.

Deputy Police Chief Mark Wodka said the village occasionally experiences such a rash of vandalism. Although the police have not identified any suspects, they don’t think the vandals targeted any particular homeowners.
