Hot weather did not spoil Hinsdale’s Fine Arts Festival this past weekend.
More than a thousand people attended the two-day event, estimated Janet Anderson, executive director of the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce, which sponsored the art show.
Although temperatures were high, there was low humidity, Anderson said, which is much preferable to wet conditions.
“The last two years it was raining when we opened,” she said.
A committee selected winners in various categories from among the 118 artists who sold their creations.
Tammy Deck of Westmont won the Best of Show Award for her fiber art.
JD Dennison of Troy, Mich. won the Presidents Award for his photography.
First, second and third place awards for 2-dimensional art went to George Hermelink of New Buffalo, Mich., Lou Zale of Deerfield, and Erik Saulitis of Minneapolis, respectively.
For 3-dimensional artwork, first, second and third-place were awarded to Tim Arnold of Villa Park, Laura Kochevar of Chicago, and Barbara Nelson of St. Charles, respectively.
The award winners received a ribbon and cash prize.
In addition, 29 artists received honorable mention.
